What is the reason for the hardware replacement?

To ensure full functionality of the Vimcar Logbook and Vimcar Fleet Geo, your current hardware – the Vimcar Dongle or Vimcar Box – will be replaced with a new, more powerful model.

Why is the replacement necessary?

Shutdown of the 2G network: The 2G mobile network, which your current hardware relies on, will soon be shut down in Germany. Without this connection, trip data can no longer be transmitted, and your Vimcar (web) app will no longer be usable.

Once the hardware is replaced, you will be able to use all functions of the Vimcar (web) app as usual and without restrictions.

Return the Old Hardware

Send the old hardware back to Vimcar free of charge. By doing so, you help us recycle the materials responsibly.

The hardware must be replaced promptly to ensure continued use of the Vimcar (web) app.

Why is the hardware being replaced?

Parts of your current hardware rely on the 2G mobile network, which will soon be shut down. The new 4G hardware ensures future compatibility, offers more precise data, and enables faster transmission.

Will I have any costs as a customer for the replacement?

No, both the provision of the new hardware and the shipping are free of charge for you.

How does the replacement work?

Once you provide your current address, you will receive the new hardware by mail along with a shipping confirmation. Using a step-by-step guide, you can install it yourself. We kindly ask you to return the old hardware to Vimcar. Vimcar will cover the return shipping costs.

How much time do I have to complete the replacement?

You will be informed of the exact deadline via email and in the app. Please make sure to replace the hardware in time, as the Vimcar (web) app will no longer be usable otherwise.

What happens if I do not complete the replacement?

Once the 2G network is shut down, trip data can no longer be transmitted. As a result, your Vimcar (web) app will no longer be usable.To avoid any disruptions in your daily work, we strongly recommend completing the replacement now — it is quick, easy, and completely free of charge.
